IYC 2011 - Chemistry-our life, our future"
The year 2011 is declared as "International Year of Chemistry" (IYC - 2011). The theme for the IYC-2011 is Chemistry - our life, our future. The International Year of Chemistry 2011 (IYC 2011) is a worldwide celebration of the achievements of chemistry and its contributions to the well-being of humankind. The Year of Chemistry is intended to reach across the globe, with opportunities for public participation at the local, regional, and national level.
It gives us great pleasure to inform you that in keeping with our “College with Potential for Excellence (CPE)” status, University Grants Commission (UGC) has identified our Department of Chemistry as one of the Departments to observe “International Year of Chemistry – 2011” in a befitting manner. Aim to generate awareness about the importance of chemistry, and its application over a range of emerging issues related to chemistry, which are of immediate concern to the community, to enlighten new developments and to create an interest on the young minds about the subject.
We are also pleased to announce that the "Department of Chemistry", St. Anthony's College, Shillong is turning 70 years. Thus, this year 2011, which also happens to be the International Year of Chemistry, is also another milestone of the Department in particular and of the College as a whole. We are looking forward to your support in making this celebration a success.
